Asian Food Photography in Anacortes – A Bold, Flavorful Shoot with De Asian Restaurant

When De Asian Restaurant in Anacortes reached out for updated photography, their vision was clear: they wanted bold, mouthwatering images that showed off their inviting space, detailed cocktails, and colorful sushi rolls. As a Seattle restaurant photographer, this was exactly the kind of shoot I love—rich textures, dynamic lighting, and an amazing variety of food and drink to capture.

We began the session by photographing cocktails at the bar, capturing the movement and atmosphere with shots of drinks being shaken, poured, and served. From there, we moved on to eleven unique dishes, including vibrant sushi rolls, saucy noodles, and some beautifully plated appetizers. Every detail was considered—from lighting to garnish—to make the food look as fresh and irresistible as it tastes.

To give them a variety of content for their website and social media, I brought in on-brand backdrops for a handful of dishes. These gave us a more stylized, editorial feel that complements the in-restaurant lifestyle shots. I used off-camera flash to control the mood and ensure every element looked sharp, no matter the lighting conditions in the back of the restaurant.

One of my favorite moments was staging a full-table shot featuring all their standout dishes—it’s the kind of content that stops people mid-scroll. We also included some behind-the-scenes action shots of the team rolling sushi and prepping dishes, which brings personality and authenticity to their brand visuals.
